Culture Treat A Cracker

SINGLETON audiences will see Australia's leading ballet dancers perform The Nutcracker at the same time as their city counterparts.

The Australian Ballet production of Tchaikovsky's famous score at the Sydney Opera House on December 7 will air live to Singleton as one of eight free public screenings in regional NSW.

The Majestic Cinema would screen the event, a real boost to Singleton, cinema manager Rachael Noncic said.

"It's not a normal thing to have that sort of culture here," she said.

"People get to see things they wouldn't ordinarily see. It's going to be a real boost."

The cinema hosted a live feed of short film festival Tropfest last year, to great success.

"This is a really big deal for Singleton because we were one of only eight towns to get this one," Ms Noncic said of the ballet.
