WITH less than a week week until the Southern Stars public schools extravaganza hits the Wollongong stage, 30 senior ballet performers practised their pirouettes and pointes yesterday.

Under the tutelage of dance instructor Joanne Grace-Morgan, the ballerinas leapt with aplomb across the hall of Smith's Hill High School.

It was only the second time the members of the ballet troupe had rehearsed the performance, which is set to the music of Wolfmother song Woman.

The choice of the psychedelic Zeppelin-style rock song reflects this year's Southern Stars theme, Musica ... Can You Feel It?

Tickets are now on sale from Ticketek for the opening performance on August 31 and two shows on September 1, all at WIN Entertainment Centre.
