Schools attended: After beginning school in the UK, I returned to Australia and found difficulty settling into grade 1 at Pleasant Street Primary School in Ballarat. I was extremely shy and had a very strong Manchester accent. I remember being teased to such an extent that my parents finally moved me into a smaller class at Ballarat Grammar School. A RISING dance star from Sydney's west has trodden on a few toes at London's Royal Ballet by winning a role that would usually go to a more experienced performer.

ONE of the world's most charismatic dancers will make guest appearances next year with the Australian Ballet.
In June, the 34-year-old Cuban, Carlos Acosta, will dance in the Melbourne season of works by the choreographer, Jerome Robbins.
